Being married to a Frenchman, romance comes as the norm, enjoying a glass of Cremant from his beloved Alsace in France, some gorgeous Chocolates, French of course, a lovely card and and some delightful roses. I am going to tell you the story of how Valentine’s cards came about!
Tradition has it that the first Valentine’s card was supposed to have been sent by the Duke of Orleans- a Frenchman who was held prisoner in the Tower of London after his Capture at the battle of Agincourt in 1415. During his imprisonment the young Duke is said to have sent poems and love letters to his wife in France ! ah forever the romantics les Francais!
